Coast to Coast

On the 12th July three Dearneside staff will be cycling from Morecambe to Bridlington, cover 170 miles to raise money for those with cancer.  With elevations of over 1300ft the route covers the Lune Valley, Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Wolds.

Taking three days, travelling on Mountain bikes, each day will range from 50 to 70 miles in total,  going from the Lancashire coast to the Yorkshire one.  Its something that Andy, Marcus and Simon have never done, and was conceived following two of them completing the Safe Urban driving course in 2018 so the company could gain its FORS Silver.

“ We enjoyed cycling around for the day so much, we thought we would do it again, but on a grander scale!” said Simon Hill, Dearneside’s Health & Safety Manager.  “ We can also raise a bit of money for charity while we do it!”

Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Relief with Hook Up for Breast Cancer, the team aim to raise over £2000 to help fund a breast cancer scanner at Bassetlaw Hospital.  They are selling sponsorship on t-shirts being worn during the ride, where logos can displayed for a donation of £100. Companies wanting to sponsor can email simon at simon.hill@dearnesidefabs.co.uk or alternatively donate at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hookupc2c
